Sunday 22nd April saw the towns first ever 5k race take to the towpaths of Middlewich. The route took 200 runners from the Big Lock Pub, up to the three locks, back down the canal to Croxton park and up Croxton Lane before finishing with two laps of the Cricket Club field. It was an early start on Sunday morning for event organisers, RunMiddlewich.
Club members were out and about at 5:30am setting up marshal points along the route and making sure the Cricket Club was all set up ready for a great family event, before taking everything back down again Sunday afternoon. Middlewich Clean Team were out in full force helping to clean up after the event and keep our town looking as fabulous as always!
The race was marshalled by dozens of local volunteers, including Middlewich and District Round Table who were on hand to offer their support to runners while managing traffic at the Recycling Centre. Typically, April showers started just as the race got under way, thankfully though it wasn’t enough to dampen the community spirit of Middlewich, as plenty of spectators still turned out to cheer on the runners.
RunMiddlewich would like to thank everyone who came out to show their support, all the marshals, Middlewich Clean Team, Middlewich Round Table, Square 1 Products and all the event sponsors, Revelation Properties Ltd, AC Running and Fitness, Wych Developments ltd, Oakbase, Kindertons Accident Management, Town Bridge Motors, Fuzzy Ed’s, The Harvester, Middlewich Physio, Evade and Ridgeway Components.
