PCSO Report - Oct/Nov 2018

My name is Oliver Hopwood and I am one of your Local PCSO’s for Middlewich.

Well, what a summer we have had this year. I am sure I don’t just speak for myself when I say I’ve got a very impressive t shirt tan to show off.

In all seriousness, we as the local officers in Middlewich have been rather impressed over the summer holidays. We have had a handful of Anti-social behavior incidents, but nothing that we can’t handle.

Which leads me nicely into my next point being the grand re opening of Fountain Fields Park. Myself and PCSO Lamon had the pleasure of being invited to the re-opening and what a successful day it was. A lot of time and hard work has gone into the planning and construction of the park and it shows by how many members of the Middlewich community turned up on 31st August. We want all the children within the Middlewich community to reap the benefits of having such a vast amount of equipment to play on and the freedom to do so. However, with that being said, I must reiterate that we as the local officers will not tolerate any kind of anti-social behavior within this park and we will be keeping a keen eye on this with doing regular patrols. Please be respectful to each other and the equipment within the park.

As promised, we have been holding regular beat meeting at Middlewich Police station. However, we haven’t really had the turnout we were hoping for. All in all, we have held 3 beat meetings within 3-4 weeks and only a handful of people have attended. We understand that everyone has commitments; therefore we have chosen different times for each beat meeting to ensure that everyone who wants to come along has the chance to do so. We are continuing to hold these beat meeting at the Police station and they will be advertised on the Cheshire Police website and also on our social media pages.

We as a force offer the opportunity sign up to Cheshire Police Alert which is free to sign up to and provides you with information about what is happening in your local area. You can receive community information by email, text message or voicemail. This is a very useful tool and I would advise people within the Middlewich area to sign up. www.cheshirepolicealert.co.uk

As the force continues to progress and look at different ways to approach our communities to better our engagement. We will soon be looking at moving back into the Middlewich Police Station to be used as a ‘Tier 2’ station. This will allow local beat officers to use the station through their tour of duty. As this will be the case, signage and advertisement on social media will be done to inform the Middlewich Community when officers will be at the station so that it allows people to come down to voice any concerns or to just have a chat with your local officers.

Unfortunately, I have to end of a bit of a negative note but very much applicable to the members of the Middlewich Community. As I am sure you are aware but we have had a spate of recent burglaries in the Middlewich area. We advise that you remain vigilant during this time. Please ensure that you check all doors and windows before leaving the house and before going to bed. If you do have any information about these incidents and you wish to inform us then please ring 101.

Please if you have any questions or queries, do not hesitate in emailing both myself or Tony and we will be more than happy to assist you in any way we can.
